Finding Answers in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s
The number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease is on the rise, and it’s increasing rapidly. More than 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older have Alzheimer’s disease. That number is expected to reach 12.7 million by 2050.
Global brain and vision nonprofit BrightFocus Foundation is sending a message to all Americans that Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of the aging process and early detection is key to protecting brain health.
In Finding Answers in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s, former New York Times writer Phil Gutis shares his story of being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2016 at age 54. Phil conveys that despite the challenges that come with an early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, there is still hope for living life to the fullest with new treatments available for the early stage of the disease.
